For its sixth rally in seven years, the Albay Multimedia Arts Convention, which claims to be the pioneering event that nurtures the creative community of the Bicol Region, will be held on the first week of the month, from September 2-3, 2023, at Ayala Malls Legazpi.
In a statement, the organizers disclosed that this year’s convention is set to be “the most monumental iteration yet” since its inception in 2016.
“What began as a modest gathering with a few dozen attendees in 2016 has seen exponential growth year after year. From hundreds to thousands and now tens of thousands of attendees, the Albay Multimedia Arts Convention has established itself as the largest event celebrating creativity in South Luzon,” AMAC said.
As per the organizers, the theme for this year, “Palette of Inclusion: Honoring Diversity in the Creative Field,” highlights not only the diverse artistic talents within the region but also underscores diversity’s vital role in the broader creative realm.
The convention’s key focus is organizing ongoing community events to enhance the skills of budding artists, according to the AMAC team:
“These events serve as a foundation, ensuring that emerging talent is well-equipped to be competitive in the ever-evolving creative industry, whether their passion lies in art, design, or any other creative discipline.”
Accordingly, it can be noted that the Bicol Region’s creative community, highlighted by events like the Albay Multimedia Arts Convention, played a crucial role in influencing the adoption of the Philippine Creative Industry Development Act (RA 11904), which acknowledges and boosts the immense potential of the Philippines’ creative sector, with the Bicol Region exemplifying the nation’s artistic excellence.
“As the Albay Multimedia Arts Convention looks forward to its 6th edition, it remains steadfast in its dedication to cultivating the next generation of creative professionals in the Philippines and beyond,” they reiterated.
Last year’s convention focused on exploring the fusion of art and technology, as it featured well-known artists in the non-fungible token (NFT) space.
AMAC was said to have offered various activities, including an art fair, exhibit, music jam, photowalk, and art talks by notable speakers. Among the speakers are artists specializing in NFTs, discussing topics like illustration, fine art, branding, and spoken word in relation to NFTs.
BitPinas was one of the guests at the event last year.
