Eight-division boxing champion and Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao is slated to release his licensed authenticated non-fungible token (NFT) collection to Ethernity Chain, the platform announced on Twitter.

The announcement did not include any other details, but the senator’s Twitter account has already shared the news.

Ethernity Chain touts itself as a digital platform that produces “limited edition, licensed and authenticated NFTs.” It aims to be the biggest authenticated NFT library that rewards creators and raises funds for charitable causes. Ethernity Chain also has a coin called ERN that allows its token holders to farm rare “A-NFTs”, stake, farm and vote on proposals that could amend how the Ethernity Chain ecosystem is being governed.

Ethernity Chain recently announced that Brazillian-American mixed martial artist and the longest reigning title holder in the UFC,  Anderson “The Spider ” SIlva, will also release his NFT collection on the platform.

Soccer superstar Pelé launched his NFT collection on Ethernity Chain, created by artists Kingsletter and Visual Lab. It was the first to feature Pelé trading cards released digitally, as per Coindesk. “Pelé is a very important milestone for us. He’s the biggest soccer player of all time,” Nick Rose Ntertsas, the CEO of Ethernity told the publication. The platform has also hosted authenticated NFTs basketball superstar Shaquille O’Neal and Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk.

In April of this year, Ethernity Chain partnered with Kenetic Capital in a move to further expand NFT adoption. According to Jehan Chu, co-founder of Kenetic, “Ethernity is leading the way for next-generation NFT platforms by providing fans access to some of the most legendary figures and brands in history while solving critical UX issues for collectors.”

Pacquiao is no stranger to the industry. The boxing icon is planning to launch PacPay, a mobile wallet ecosystem that can be utilized to send and receive money in the Philippines and globally.

This is a developing story.
