LSL or the Lunacian Scholarship League is a tournament partnership between education hub BlockchainSpace and SEAesport, the Southeast Asian esports organization behind the tournament series: Community Showdown (Valorant x GrabFood, CS: Go x VPGame).

On the heels of its successful invitationals and the start of Season 1 tournament, LSL announced new projects for the Axie Infinity competitive community.

Friday Night Axie [Alpha]

This is a weekly open format tournament held in the LSL Discord. Prize starts at $100 worth of BUSD each week though that would increase through the community chest.

According to Joe Josue, partner at Esports Overdrive and Seaeasport, they came up with Friday Night Axie because they felt they needed a less restrictive open format for the competitive community at large. “LSL proper [on the other hand], is geared toward an even playing field for scholars to test pure skill.“

As a young game competitively, we felt Friday Night Axie (FNA) is necessary to explore meta pushing plays that could help discover new strategies.

Community Chest

Speaking of which,  everyone can contribute to the community chest, and each months’ contributions to this will be divided into the following month as follows:

  • 70% Friday Night Axie Prize pool
  • 10% LSL Season Prize pool
  • 10% Axie Treasury
  • 10% LSL Team

The Axie Treasury is the Community Treasury that, when it goes live, is where 100% all fees and primary sales from the Axie universe will be deposited into. (Check this article for a more detailed explanation.)

Joe explains the purpose of LSL’s community chest, where 10% goes back to the Axie Treasury:

Giving back didn’t feel right if we didn’t make it part of the entire season ecosystem, this majority went to additional FNA PrizePool each month, LSL leaderboard which is our ultimate vocation in helping play-to-earn, and back to Axie who makes this possible.

LSL May Tournament

“First come first serve for scholarships, with a priority for those who joined last months’ Season Opener!”

BlockchainSpace and SEAesport welcome Axie Infinity scholarship guilds to Lunacian Scholarship League Season 1. This is open to all scholarship guilds who would like to send their scholars to compete in the league.

LSL is also working on a “Hall of Champions” as a way to utility and prestige to winners of the tournament.

Tying it all together, Joe said:

“Friday Night Axie, Community Chest, and the Hall of Champions we’re developing—these are all cogs in how we want to contribute building the competitive space for Lunacians—imagining the best parts we love in esports, but built for a new world enabled by NFT and decentralized ownership.”
