Women in Blockchain Philippines Founder Receives Rising Women of Crypto 2022 Award

Out of 700 nominees, Gail Cruz-Macapagal, the Country Director of DynaQuest and Founder of Women in Blockchain Philippines, is among the 13 winners of the 2022 Rising Women in Crypto Power List.

The award-giving body specifically named the initiative of  DynaQuest to organize a fundraising event for street children, where Cruz- Macapagal spearheaded the launch of the Humanility ‘From Street to School Art’ non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The NFTs are available on Likha, a Filipino NFT platform.

The launch of the collection, aside from providing for the orphans’ education, is to highlight the young artists using NFT technology to recognize the individual creator.  She highlighted that the collection ”expresses the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of each child – all encapsulated into NFT format.” (Read more: New NFT Initiative Seeks to Raise Funds for Foster Children)

Recently, Cruz- Macapagal was also among the local web3 leaders from the newly established Web3 Alliance that signed the solidarity statement pledging their commitment to support the holistic and ethical growth of blockchain in the Philippines during the country’s first Global Blockchain Summit, held last October 26-27, 2022, at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City, Bataan. In 2020,  DynaQuest, the firm itself, was named among the Top 10 Identity and Access Management Companies in Asia and the Pacific by Enterprise Security, for the company’s work on Inclusive Identities managed over the Blockchain. What is the Crypto Power List?

The Rising Women in Crypto Power List, initiated by crypto payments platform Wirex in partnership with crypto news publisher Cryptonomist, aims to “promote women in the crypto sector and break the stereotype that only white, younger males can get involved.”

“The winners were selected for their unprecedented levels of achievements, potential, influence, ambition, leadership skills and innovation, and above all else, who were considered to be a ‘rising star’ in crypto,” the announcement read.

The other women on the list are; Lauren Ingram, Founder of Women of Web3,  a community helping women through jobs, resources, and connections; Tavonia Evans, Founder of decentralized cryptocurrency GuapCoin; Oluchi Enebeli, Founder of the community Web3Ladies and Nigeria’s first female Blockchain Engineer; Yasmin Johal, Financial Services Regulation Associate at CMS; Gabriella M. Kusz, CEO of the Global Digital Asset and Cryptocurrency Association; Lisa Loud, Co-Founder and CEO of FLUIDEFI; Irina Karagyaur, Head of Ecosystem Growth and Business Development at Unique Network; Naomi Metzger, Professional Athlete & NFT Creator; and Lisa Francoeur, Chief Revenue Officer of Crypto Tutors.

They also gave special recognitions such as “Young Ukrainian of the Year” to Valentyna Dynovska, Communication Expert at the World Smart Cities Forum, and “Social Media Influencer of the Year” to Maliha Abidi, Founder of Women Rise. 

A “Newcomer of the Year” award, meanwhile, was granted to Leanne Holder, CEO of Giving to Services, a crypto token (SVS) and community-centric staking platform that recognizes and rewards public service workers.
