Upcoming DEVCON Mindanao Summit to Showcase Regional Tech Leaders

Developers Connect (DEVCON), a homegrown nonprofit technology organization, is set to host DEVCON Mindanao Summit 2024 on June 29-30 in Davao City. The summit will feature presentations and panels by local tech leaders, highlighting the region’s tech ecosystem.

The media release highlighted that the upcoming event, themed “Weaving Tech for All,” is poised to become the leading technology gathering in the region.

Companies such as Accenture, CoDev, Talino Venture Studios, Internet Computer Protocol Hub, Ingenuity, Ever Accountable, IONA, Nuxify, and others have already pledged their support as sponsors for the event.

Consequently, DEVCON announced that there are still limited partnership and sponsorship slots available for the summit.

Mindanao Tour

Moreover, the organizers shared that after touring significant cities in Mindanao from March 1 to 11, the DEVCON team actively collaborated with local leaders to conclude preparations.

DEVCON received support from various sectors in Mindanao, including academia, government, and industry, advocating for an inclusive innovation approach.

In Iligan, the DEVCON team had a courtesy visit with Mayor Frederick “Freddie” Siao and held discussions with iDEYA: Center for Innovation and Technopreneurship, Iligan Medical Center College, and local government officials.

In Davao, the team met with representatives from Ingenuity, Mugna Tech, CoDev, Davao DEFI, Davao Interschool Computer Enthusiasts, UPMin SPARCS, and engaged in discussions with government officers.

In Bukidnon, they conducted meetings with aspiring DEVCON Chapter leaders and engaged in discussions with Central Mindanao University.

In Cagayan de Oro, partnership agreements were established with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 10, and a community dinner was held to connect with local tech leaders.

Previous DEVCON Event

Last October, the organization organized DEVCON PRO Summit scheduled for October 20, 2023, in Makati. TThe event aimed to unite technology enthusiasts, developers, and IT professionals, featuring discussions on emerging technologies, inclusive tech ecosystems, and AI ethics. Speakers included government officials and industry experts.

In an interview prior to the event, Winston Damarillo, DEVCON Founder and President, revealed that the summit will include discussions on web3 and artificial intelligence (AI) alongside web2 technology, underscoring their significance in the tech industry.
