A physical art exhibit titled, ‘Begin with a second, a mirror of the first’, a group exhibition of five artists, will also feature a non-fungible token (NFT) art, a digital item that can be bought and sold using this blockchain technology, by visual artist and Crypto Art PH co-founder Jopet Arias. The exhibit will be held at the Altro Mondo Creative gallery starting on January 8 to February 5.

“Jopet Arias’s NFT work included in the exhibit points to his interest in the fusion of traditional and digital art and the boundless reality of the metaverse,” a statement noted.

Arias’ work “House of Prayers” is minted on the Tezos blockchain and viewable here.

The exhibit will also feature the works of prominent artists Andre Baldovino, Christian Culangan, Floyd Absalon, Gabe Naguiat and Gelo Narag.

“Begin with a second, a mirror of the first is an exploration of the beauty of symmetry through the perspectives of visual artists Andre Baldovino, Christian Culangan, Floyd Absalon, Gabe Naguiat, Gelo Narag, and Jopet Arias. It is uncommon to find a concept that connotes a beauty that straddles multiple disciplines despite extreme differences between them, quite like the nature of duality and parallelism,” they wrote in a statement.

According to their press release, it emphasized that “each artist explores the nature of these concepts through their own unique creative practices.”

The art style of artists Andre Baldovino, Floyd Absalon, and Gabe Naguiat are within the constraints of the traditional medium of painting. Christian S. Culangan, on the other hand, works with sound art and video art, while Gelo Narag manipulates found objects, paintings, and video art.

The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm; and viewings are strictly by appointment.

Jopet Arias is also one of the organizers of #tezmasPH, the first NFT minting contest in the Philippines co-organized with BitPinas news publication and TZ APAC, the leading adoption entity for the Tezos ecosystem in Asia.

In the Philippines, NFTs made a huge wave on the local digital market over the past year. Recently, UnionDigital Bank, announced their plan to venture into the NFT market this 2022. The announcement was said during the virtual media roundtable E-TalkTales on Tuesday, December 21. (Read more: UnionDigital Bank Eyes Venturing Into NFT)

Further, NFTs were also able to onboard Filipino personalities and entities into the digital market. Media personalities  Nadine Lustre, Heart Evangelista, Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe Philippines, National Book Development Board (NBDB), Team Manila, La Union Surf Club (LUSC) and a group of artists called Mask on Buttons are among the Filipinos who joined the wave by releasing their own or participating in an NFT project.
